Baselworld may have only been a few months ago, but already the latest watch design trends shown at the jewellery and watch mecca can be found in luxury showrooms across the country. One of the central themes showcased at Baselworld 2013 was luxury with style – portrayed perfectly with a range of rose gold timepieces.
While gold and platinum remain as favourites for watch collectors, the distinctive aesthetic of rose gold has overtook the popularity of other precious metals such as white gold. The rise in popularity of this precious metal has seen it become one of the top watch design trends for men this summer, while the timeless appeal will see rose gold men’s watches act as lasting additions to any watch collection.
Swiss watchmakers Philippe are just one leading watch brand to incorporate the stunning metal of rose gold into their 2013 collections. Patek recognised the appeal of rose gold by presenting their classic 5980 Nautilus Chronograph on a complete rose gold bracelet. Previously the popular 5980 was only available with a smart leather strap, and this elegant rose gold bracelet only highlights the growing admiration of rose gold within watchmaking.
Rolex have also acknowledged the growing demand for distinctively designed rose gold watches like the mens rolex watches at David M Robinson. At this year’s Baselworld, Rolex introduced a smart selection of new Oyster Perpetual Day-Dates, each with a rose gold case. To contrast the signature colour of rose gold on the case, each new Rolex Day-Date watch is presented on a coloured leather strap – colours available include cognac, chocolate, cherry, green and blue. Depending on the leather strap you choose, the watch face partners the strap with a complementing coloured face – ideal for adding a burst of colour to the luxury elegance of rose gold.
With watchmaking giants Rolex and Patek Philippe fully embracing the style and luxury of rose gold within their men’s watches collections, it couldn’t be clearer that this sophisticated metal isn’t just for women’s watches any more, and offers a smart and fashionable timepiece ideal for any occasion wear.
